Biofuels and Energy Legislation

This year is shaping up to be a very busy one for the energy industry and Washington, DC policy makers. One of the primary areas Congress and the Administration are focused on "doing something" is issue of alternative fuels. Alternative fuels, primarily ethanol and bio-diesel, will be addressed as part of the "Farm Bill". The farm bill is legislation that is reauthorized every five years to provide direction and funding for programs ranging from food and nutrition programs to food stamps to direct payments for farmers and ranchers. The envisioned expansion of alternative/biofuels raises significant questions as to methods of delivery and the needed infrastructure including pipelines.

AOPL is in the process of finalizing basic policy paper explaining the challenges and opportunities associated with potential pipeline transportation of biofuels. The policy paper will be posted here when completed.
