AOPL PIPELINE OPERATORS CONTINUING OPERATIONS DURING COVID-19

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON, DC – The Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL) and our member companies join in wishing American families and businesses are staying safe as the situation with the coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve.

AOPL represents liquids pipeline owners and operators transporting crude oil, petroleum products like gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, home heating oil and industrial products like propane and ethane. AOPL companies operating liquids pipelines across the United States recognize the vital role they play delivering the affordable and reliable energy supplies we need to lead our daily lives. Pipeline operators are taking the following precautions and actions to ensure our Nation’s energy delivery system continues to operate safely:

  • Following government and CDC recommendations for practicing personal hygiene and social distancing important for minimizing the spread of COVID-19
  • Developing and updating company plans to minimize health risks and continue operations safely
  • In addition to pipeline operations, continuing pipeline integrity management programs to inspect, maintain and monitor their pipeline systems to protect the public and the environment.
  • Staying in close contact with fellow pipeline operating companies to exchange information on best practices for continued operations during this challenge
  • Staying in close contact with government energy and safety stakeholders to exchange information, identify issues and resolve any issues toward continuing to deliver energy safely

AOPL and member companies will continue to monitor the situation closely and adjust our practices as needed to protect the safety of our employees while continuing to provide our vital services.
